YouTube has announced that its Playables feature will now be available to all users. This feature allows customers of the video-streaming service to access a selection of games without the need to download anything. Playables debuted in November last year and was exclusive to YouTube Premium subscribers in a few regions until March 28. It featured thirty arcade games. This service, which offers a selection of free-to-play games without a premium subscription, has been rolled out for all users of the video streaming platform. Google claims that the new Playables gives users a 'fun, interactive way to experience YouTube.'

YouTube Playables: The Games and Accessibility

To cater to a variety of interests, YouTube currently offers over 75 games that are accessible through YouTube Playables. These games span a wide range of categories like Sports, Action, Brain & Puzzle, Arcade, RPG & Strategy, Board & Card, Word & Trivia, and Simulation. The list of games includes "Angry Birds Showdown," "Cut The Rope," and "Trivia Crack."

These games can be found in a dedicated carousel on the YouTube Home page. You can use the new Playables destination page or the Podcasts hub's Explore menu to access the feature. On this page, visitors can explore and choose from a range of games. Clicking on any game card instantly initiates the gameplay. The controls to exit a game, mute or unmute audio, save a game, and access additional options through an overflow menu are located on the interface above each game. While non-premium users will hear the game audio by default, YouTube Premium subscribers can watch videos in the background with the game audio muted.

Notably, a limited number of users in the US, UK, Canada, and Australia can currently access YouTube Playables as part of an experimental rollout. Over the next few months, more people should be able to use the service. Some users in these regions might still be able to access the Playables section on YouTube through shareable links that are specific to each game, even though not all users may see it right away.
