Global audio technology maker Yamaha today launched two new sound bars – YAS 109 and YAS 209 – that comes with Amazon Alexa voice assistant built-in. The sound bars also feature Wi-Fi connectivity to play tunes through Spotify Connect, Amazon Music and Alexa-supported music services.
While the YAS-109 features built-in subwoofers in a compact size, the YAS-209 comes with a separate wireless subwoofer, offering users flexible placement options. The remote comes with a dedicated button to initiate Alexa control. Additionally, Alexa can be muted, as when necessary or turned off completely when the sound bar is powered down, based on user preferences.

Both the sound bars feature Dolby Digital and DTS Digital Surround decoding, as well as DTS Virtual X technology to provide users an immersive, virtual 3D surround sound. The sound bars also utilise post-processing technology creating a life-like, 3D sound – all without the need for separate speakers. The sound bars feature Yamaha Clear Voice technology, designed to improve the audibility and clarity of dialogue in movies and TV shows. The feature will be particularly helpful in action scenes and live sports programs when background sounds might otherwise overwhelm dialogue and narration.
Other features include a HDMI input and output with ARC, supports 4K high dynamic range (HDR) video with HDMI-connected 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc players or 4K streaming media players. Both the sound bars support CEC, enabling audio control with compatible TV remotes. An optical input is provided for use with other devices without HDMI connections.
The new Yamaha YAS 109 and YAS 209 are available exclusively at authorised Yamaha AV dealers. The YAS 109 costs Rs 23,990 and the YAS 209 is priced at Rs 35,490.
