China’s Xiaomi had a blast last year with devices such as Redmi Note 4, Mi A1, Mi Mix 2, etc. and now the company is all set to launch a new smartphone tentatively called as Redmi Note 5 in February.
The Redmi Note 5 is successor to hugely popular Redmi Note 4 that broke all sales records for the company. With a growth rate of nearly 300 per cent year-on-year, Xiaomi has also become the fastest growing smartphone brand in India in the third quarter of 2017, market research firm IDC has said.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is expected to run on MIUI 9 on top of Android 7.1 OS and will sport a 5.99-inch display with 1080x2160 pixels resolution with 18:9 aspect ratio.
The smartphone will be powered by an old Snapdragon 625 processor paired up with 3GB of RAM with 32GB storage or 4GB of RAM with 64GB storage. The device is rumoured to have a 12MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera and will come with 4,000mAh battery
Xiaomi entered India in July 2014 and has since disrupted the smartphone industry with an aim to provide innovation for everyone in terms of technologically advanced and high-quality products. With the Redmi series, it has redefined the sub-10,000 category of smartphones providing users with a wide array of options for smartphones with unmatchable features.
In line with government’s “Made in India” initiative, Xiaomi in November announced its third manufacturing plant in India and the first facility to make power banks. This manufacturing plant is in partnership with Hipad Technology and is situated in Noida.
The company already has two smartphone manufacturing plants in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh and more than 95 per cent of its smartphones sold in India are assembled locally.
