Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi today launched its second-generation phablet Mi Max 2 in India. Featuring a massive 5300mAh battery, Mi Max 2 is an overall upgrade in terms of design, camera, and specifications

Priced at Rs 16,999, Mi Max 2 will be available during the Mi’s third anniversary sale on July 20 and 21, starting from 10 a.m. onwards on Mi.com and Mi Home.

Following this, Mi Max 2 will be available from July 27 across all online and offline partners of Xiaomi, along with mi.com and Mi Home.

Launched last year, Mi Max quickly became one of the popular big screen smartphone among users, spurring demand in this segment and establishing market dominance in the 6-inch and above market.

Mi Max 2 sports a unibody metal design featuring a big 6.44-inch screen with 2.5D curved glass and packs Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.

The phablet is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 (octa-core 2.0GHz) with 14nm FinFET technology, 4GB RAM, and 64GB internal storage.

In addition, Mi Max 2 features a 12MP Sony IMX386 1.25-micron large-pixel camera sensor at the rear and a 5MP front camera with beautify mode.

Mi Max 2 is fuelled by a massive 5,300mAh, which according to Xiaomi provides up to 18 hours of video playback, 57 hours of talk time, and over 31 days on standby. Mi Max 2 can also charge other smartphones connected to its USB Type-C port.

Mi Max 2 can be charged to 68 per cent in just one hour thanks to the Qualcomm's Quick Charge 3.0 support.

Thanks to MIUI optimisations, Mi Max 2 comes with “One-handed mode”, a feature that makes the usable display smaller, allowing users to navigate the screen with just one hand. Furthermore, MIUI will soon introduce “Split screen”, which allows two applications to run in the foreground, making full use of the large 6.44-inch display. For instance, a user can watch a video using the top half of the screen while replying to messages in the lower half.
