The Chinese tech giant, Xiaomi has officially launched the Mi Band 5 – the newest member of the most popular smart band family – in its home country. The smart band is available in two different versions – a standard version and an NFC version. Also, it comes with eight colourful strap options.
The Mi Band 5 features a 1.1-inch colour AMOLED display, which is considerably larger than the Mi Band 4's display. The current screen supports over 100 new animated watch faces. The device is available with a new charging dock, which attaches magnetically to the backside of the band. It has two electrodes that stick out at the bottom of the device and automatically hook the charging dock which means that one does not need to detach the track from the strap to charge it.
As far as the specs are concerned, the Mi Band 5 supports 11 sports modes as well as a women’s health mode with which the women can track their menstrual cycle. It also offers a Personal Activity Intelligence (PAI) Activity Index, which enables the users to track and understand their fitness activity in an effective manner. The band also has a heart rate sensor and it offers support for REM sleep along with light and deep sleep. The smart band also houses an in-built barometer to check the atmospheric pressure.
The users of Mi Band 5 will receive social media notifications, incoming calls, texts, music control, weather updates, and a lot more on their smart band. The remote-control camera feature on the band will enable users to click pictures from their smartphones as well.
The Mi Band 5 standard version is priced at CNY 189 (approximately ₹2,000) whereas the NFC variant is priced at CNY 229 (approximately ₹2,400). It is expected to launch in India in a few months from now.
