Xiaomi’s gaming beast Black Shark 2 smartphone is slated to launch in India on May 27 and will be sold via Flipkart. The e-tailer has listed the smartphone along with other brands in a new membership programme called ‘Flipkart Edge.’ Under the programme, Flipkart is offering members benefits including 90-day returns policy and express delivery.

Flipkart is also promoting the new programme on Instagram. Whether the Black Shark 2 will be exclusive to Flipkart or will be available through other online and offline channels it not yet known.

Xiaomi Black Shark 2 will be the second phone after ASUS ROG specific to gaming. While ASUS ROG is costing a nickel in India, the Black Shark 2 is expected to come at a relatively affordable price – just like Xiaomi does with all other smartphones (great features at cheap prices).

The Black Shark 2 has already been launched in China at CNY 3,200 (approx. Rs 33,000) for the base variant.

The smartphone comes with a 6.39-inch full-HD+ AMOLED display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor clubbed with 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. The smartphone runs on Joy UI – unlike MIUI found on most of the Xiaomi phones. The Joy UI is closer to stock Android and is specially optimised for a lag-free gaming experience.

The Black Shark 2 will be fuelled by a 4,000mAh battery with support of 27W fast charging. There will be a dual rear camera setup at the back consisting of one 48MP sensor and a 12MP telephoto sensor for 2X optical zoom. At the front, there will be a 20MP camera.

To enhance the gaming experience, the Black Shark 2 offers an input latency of 43.5ms. The screen is also pressure sensitive thus can be configured to assign virtual buttons that can be triggered by a long press – which the company calls as Magic Press.
