WhatsApp has released a feature that lets users organise events, extending the functionality to standard group chats. Previously, the feature was exclusive to communities, but it looks like WhatsApp is contemplating expanding it to regular group chats as well to enhance coordination and cooperation even more. With this feature, it is now possible to create events without having any association with a community. Users can specify event details such as name, description, date, optional location, and whether a voice or video call is required. The action suggests that the messenger app is continuously working to improve its accessibility for users.

WhatsApp New Events Feature: How Does it Work?

The paper-clip options will be altered by the upcoming update, according to a WABetaInfo report. WhatsApp has increased the range of options available. By selecting the paper-clip option, users can access options to add a poll, contact, image, document, audio, and location. Following the update, there will be an additional option in the app to create an event.

After an event invitation is created, everyone in the group chat can see and accept it, and its creator can edit the event's information as needed. The events are safely end-to-end encrypted. This ensures everyone in the group has confidentiality and privacy because only those taking part in the chat may access communications and event details.

The update is being released gradually. As a result, some users who download the most recent WhatsApp beta updates for Android from the Google Play Store can access the event feature for group chats, and it will be made available to even more users soon.

Meanwhile, WhatsApp also intends to notify users when their media sharing fails as part of their ongoing efforts to improve the platform. This feature, added in the most recent WhatsApp beta for iOS, seeks to notify users promptly if their media upload is paused or fails, negating the need to open the app. Users will be notified which image or video has been affected when an upload is interrupted by connectivity problems or switching to another app.

This feature makes sure users are always aware of the media they upload, which enhances the file-sharing experience overall. Additionally, it supports background app refresh, which guarantees seamless media uploads even when the app is not open and speeds up message loading.
