A New Year also marks the new beginning for the Samsung. The company at an ‘Unpacked’ event in the US has launched a new foldable smartphone – the Galaxy Z Flip, alongside the Galaxy S20 series. The Galaxy Z Flip features a 6.7-inch display that folds into a stylish and compact form factor and fits in the palm of your hand.
The smartphone is engineered with first-of-its-kind foldable glass and feature an innovative Hideaway Hinge and custom-built UX. And to foster ultimate portability, the Galaxy Z Flip folds into the size of a wallet, allowing you to easily fit the device in your pocket or bag.
The Galaxy Z Flip sports an Infinity Flex Display with Samsung’s proprietary bendable ultra-thin glass (UTG). There is no notch instead the device has an n-display camera cut-out at the top. The device offers 21.9:9 ratio, so you can enjoy your favourite content in cinema-ratio.
The hideaway hinge is backed by a dual CAM mechanism to ensure every flip and fold is smooth and stable. The Galaxy Z Flip can be used at a range of angles, similar to a foldable screen laptop. The hideaway hinge system uses nylon fibres to repel dirt and dust.
Samsung has also worked closely with Google to create a Flex mode, which is a custom-built user experience for the Galaxy Z Flip’s forward folding form factor. For instance, if you are using the device in free-standing mode, the display automatically splits into two 4-inch screens allowing you to easily view images, contents or videos on the top half of the display, and control them on the bottom half.
At the front, there is a 10MP camera. At the back, the Z Flip comes with dual camera consisting of a 12MP ultra wide camera and a 12MP wide-angle camera. The rear camera can capture 4K video and has modes such as Live Focus and Super Steady recording. The smartphone is powered by the 7nm 64-bit octa-core processor clubbed with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
When the Galaxy Z Flip is closed, you can check the date, time and battery status at a glance on the cover display. You can receive real time notifications and can answer a call without unfolding or respond to a text by simply tapping the notification and unfolding your Galaxy Z Flip.
With multi-active window, you can seamlessly multitask by opening the multi-window tray to drag and drop the apps you want to use.
The Galaxy Z Flip will be available in limited quantities in mirror purple and mirror black in select markets including the US and Korea on February 14, followed by Mirror Gold in select countries.
