Samsung’s category defining smartphone – the Galaxy Fold is again sold out completely within 30 minutes after it went on sale for the second time. The pre-bookings for the Galaxy Fold opened after a one-week gap on last Friday.
Samsung has closed accepting pre-bookings on its official online store today. This is the second time in two weeks that Samsung had to close Galaxy Fold pre-bookings in India on its official online store.
Last week at the inaugural pre-booking sale, 1,600 Galaxy Fold smartphones were sold within 30 minutes on the Samsung’s official online store. Consumers who have pre-booked the Galaxy Fold in India have paid Rs 1,64,999 upfront. The Galaxy Fold will get delivered to the consumers via a Concierge starting October 20.
According to sources familiar with the matter, Samsung will resume online pre-bookings for Galaxy Fold on its official online store next Friday.
The company has also rolled out a dedicated 24×7 expert on call for Galaxy Fold consumers. Each Galaxy Fold consumer also gets a dedicated service and a one-year Infinity Flex Display Protection.
India is now among a few countries, like the US and South Korea, where the Galaxy Fold is now available for purchase.
The Galaxy Fold folds like a book and sports two displays one a HD+ 4.6-inch Super AMOLED panel with 840x1960 pixels resolution and 21:9 aspect ratio and another a QXGA+ 7.3-inch Infinity Flex Dynamic AMOLED panel that has 1536x2152 pixels resolution with 4.2:3 aspect ratio. The smartphone has six cameras in total that includes a triple rear camera setup, two cameras at the front (unfolded state), and a single selfie shooter on the cover.
The triple camera setup consists of a 16MP primary sensor, a 12MP secondary sensor with Dual Pixel AF lens that supports OIS and f/1.5 to f/2.4 variable aperture and a 12MP telephoto f/2.4 lens that enables 2X optical zoom.
