Last week, Redmi launched the Redmi Note 8 and the Redmi Note 8 Pro smartphones in India, and today, these phones will be available for purchase via various platforms. These handsets are the latest entrants in the Redmi 8 Series of phones, and both of them have got huge spec and feature bump as compared to their predecessors. At the launch event, Anuj Sharma, Head of Marketing, Xiaomi India, claimed that the company has sold 100 million units of Redmi Note Series around the world.
Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro will be available for purchase through Amazon.in, Mi.com, and Mi Home Stores from 12 p.m. today. The Redmi Note 8 starts at a price of Rs 9,999 for the 4GB + 64GB variant and the 6GB + 128GB version can be purchased for Rs 12,999. It is offered in Moonlight White, Neptune Blue, and Space Black colour options.
The Redmi Note 8 Pro can be purchased at a starting price of Rs 14,999 for the 6GB RAM + 64GB storage variant. The 6GB RAM + 128GB storage version carries a price tag of Rs 15,999. There is a top-end variant with 8GB RAM + 128GB storage model that can be purchased for Rs 17,999. Customers will have the option of purchasing the phone in Gamma Green, Halo White, and Shadow Black colour options.
The Redmi Note 8 is equipped with a 6.39-inch full-HD+ display that offers a resolution of 1080x2280 pixels, 90 per cent screen-to-body ratio and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The handset is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 mobile platform with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The phone draws power from a 4,000mAh battery that has 18W fast charging support. The Redmi Note 8 runs Android Pie with MIUI 10 on top.
In the camera department, the Redmi Note 8 comes with a quad rear camera setup that has a 48MP primary sensor with an f/1.7 lens. There is an 8MP secondary sensor with a wide-angle f/2.2 lens that has a 120-degree field-of-view. These sensors are joined by two 2MP cameras -- a macro and a depth sensor -- with f/2.4 lenses. On the front is a 13MP camera with f/2.0 lens.
The Pro variant is a notch above the regular version and sports a 6.53-inch full-HD+ display that offers 1080x2340 pixels resolution, 19.5:9 aspect ratio and 91.4 screen-to-body ratio. Under the hood, the smartphone comes equipped with an octa-core MediaTek Helio G90T chipset, which is coupled with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The Redmi Note 8 Pro comes with a 4,500mAh battery with 18W fast charging support. The phone runs MIUI 10 based on Android Pie OS.
When it comes to optics, the Redmi Note 8 Pro also comes with a quad rear camera setup that includes a 64MP primary sensor with an f/1.89 lens. It is The camera setup also includes an 8MP sensor with an ultra-wide f/2.2 lens that has a field-of-view of 120 degrees. Just like the non-Pro variant, the camera module has two 2MP sensors -- one with macro lens and the other for depth sensing. On the front, the phone houses a 20MP sensor with f/2.0 lens in the notch.
