In a period of just six months, Oppo has again renewed its Reno series of smartphones with the addition of two new models – Reno5 5G and Reno5 Pro 5G. Besides that, the manufacturer has also released a teaser for the Reno 5 Pro+ flagship smartphone.
Both the smartphones are near identical to one another, with the main distinguishing factor being the chipset. Where the vanilla Reno5 5G gets a Snapdragon 765G chipset, the Pro model features a MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ chipset. Moreover, while the former packs a flat 6.43-inch Full-HD+ AMOLED panel, the Pro version gets a bigger 6.55-inch Full-HD+ AMOLED dual-curved display.
Both the phones, however, feature a refresh rate of 90Hz and a touch response rate of 180Hz. There's also a 32MP selfie shooter housed inside a punch-hole cutout at the top, along with an in-display fingerprint sensor at the bottom. Both phones also get a quad-camera setup at the back, comprising a 64MP primary sensor, an 8MP ultrawide lens, a 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP depth sensor.
While both the smartphones are powered by different chipsets, they both feature 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Moreover, both also run on Android 11, with the brand's ColorOS 11 skin on top. Lastly, the standard Reno5 5G gets a 4,300mAh battery, while the Reno5 Pro 5G comes equipped with a slightly larger 4,350mAh battery. Both the smartphones support 65W SuperVOOC charging via USB-C.
The vanilla Reno5 5G is priced at CNY 2,699 (approximately ₹30,399) for the 8GB+128GB base trim and goes all the way up to CNY 2,999 ( approximately ₹33,799) for the 12GB+256GB trim. The Reno5 Pro 5G, on the other hand, is priced at CNY 3,399 (approximately ₹38,299) and CNY 3,799 (approximately ₹42,999) for the 8GB+128GB and 12GB+256GB variants, respectively. While both the smartphones are available in three common colours – aurora blue, midnight black, and glitter blue – the Pro model also gets an additional 'new year edition red' shade.
