The OnePlus TV has been in the news for a while now. The Chinese tech company has been promoting the TV on Amazon India website, and in the latest development, it has announced that its upcoming TV range will come equipped with eight speakers and Dolby Atmos tech. The Dolby Atmos tech creates moving audio to deliver a cinematic experience. The company also says that the speakers will have an output of 50 watts.
Further, OnePlus has already confirmed that the OnePlus TV will sport a 55-inch 4K QLED display and Dolby Vision for ‘extraordinary colour, contrast, and brightness to the screen.’ What’s not known is the exact launch date of the TV. Rumours suggest that the company may launch the device in the last week of this month, on September 26.
Last week, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau had said that the OnePlus TV will run Android TV – Google’s proprietary operating system for TVs – and it will receive software updates for at least three years. This means that the OnePlus TV will come equipped with features, including Google Assistant and the Play Store. The executive also hinted that the company’s main aim is to provide the same experience to users with the OnePlus TV as it provides with the OnePlus phones. This suggests that the TV may ship with a modified version of Android TV.
Moreover, it has been reported that the OnePlus TV will come bundled with voice control and interaction, which means it could be equipped with far-field microphones. There were rumours about the OnePlus getting a Bluetooth Remote certified, which means it could feature a dedicated button for accessing AI assistants like the Google Assistant. Currently, the Amazon Fire Stick comes with a remote that has voice search functionality. Previously, it was reported that OnePlus TV would come in four different sizes: 43-inch, 55-inch, 65-inch, and 75-inch.
