We finally have a confirmation on the launch of OnePlus 5 after a wave of rumours flooding the internet. OnePlus 5’s global launch is on June 20th and this all-new smartphone will make its debut on June 22nd in India.
To highlight the OnePlus 5’s new dual rear camera setup OnePlus is using the catchline, “Focus on what matters.” Based on Android Police’s latest rendering, it not only confirms that the new OnePlus 5 will look similar to Apple’s flagship smartphone, iPhone 7 Plus, it also reveals that it will sport dual rear cameras. OnePlus 5 is also expected to use a superior camera technology as OnePlus now has a tie-up with DxOMark.
Even before the launch, quite a few details have been confirmed by OnePlus CEO Pete Lau like the OnePlus 5 will be powered by Qualcomm’s most powerful chip, Snapdragon 835. The new flagship smartphone will be the slimmest OnePlus phone and the company will keep the fingerprint scanner on the front, not at the back like many rumours suggested it would be. Also, there was a lot of confusion over whether OnePlus will get rid of the 3.5mm jack or not. Well, the company has confirmed that they will retain the jack.
OnePlus, in one of their posts on Twitter, revealed that the OnePlus 5 could be available in four different colours —black, a mix of purple, blue and teal, red, and gold.
Though it is expected that OnePlus will retain the 5.5-inch display, there is no confirmation whether it will be full HD display or Quad HD panel. Unfortunately, we can’t confirm whether this smartphone will get a 6GB Ram or an 8GB one. We will have to wait till the launch of the OnePlus 5.
