Watch Dogs is not for the faint hearted as its all about guns blazing, cars running over pesky bystanders, colourful language and tech wizardry.
It is one of the most anticipated games of the year. Watch Dogs is a fast paced action packed game. The story revolves around hacker/vigilante Aiden Pearce, who takes up a high risk job which goes wrong. Things go bad to worse when his niece, Lana, dies in a crossfire and yes you guessed it right the plot is all about an eye for an eye, so basically it is a revenge story. But we warn you, don’t go by the cliched story line, the gung-ho attitude of the hero and gang leader with a tacky name — Avon Barksdale. Your play ground is Chicago and as this is an open world game where you can kill the bad guys and “accidentally” run over bystanders.
Apart from your run-of-the-mill twists and turns, Pierce also has a lot of side-quests he has to ace. So if you get know that there is some random criminal activity taking place, you can be Robin Hood and save the day. There is also a search mission on an abandoned island which lets you discover a new world all together. But the masterstroke by the game makers has to be the moment when you are searching for a rival hacker, only to realise that you are the one being hunted as he has turned the hacking system on you. This role reversal makes you realise how powerless your enemies feel when you use the technology on them.
This game comes with some serious action scenes and shooting down the bad guys surely gives you a satisfying feeling. If that sounds too mundane for you, then you can even clip a grenade pinned on your enemy without taking it off. Now that is a move worth admiring.
Aiden’s all powerful smartphone manages to double up as a super computer and manages to create blackouts anywhere, control traffic lights and CCTVs, virtually anything.
As mentioned before, you also get to drive cars and most of them feel like you are driving a heavy truck, unless it is some flashy sports car or a bike.
You get to explore the technological world in great depth and crack some heads as well. The storyline is predictable to the core but the action sequence and the graphics will keep you interested. There is not a single dull moment.
