Nikon has launched its S-Line lens, the NIKKOR Z 24mm f/1.8 S for the Nikon Z series camera in India. The lens can be purchased for Rs 86,950, and is claimed to be ideal for indoor photography, landscapes as well as nightscape photography. The 24mm wide-angle prime lens comes with nine diaphragm blades for both wide-field photography and videography.
‘Our new range of S-Line lens, the NIKKOR Z 24mm f/1.8 S is the pinnacle in offering superior optical performance. This lens’ optical performance is optimised by the Z mount’s inner mount diameter at 55mm and short flange focal distance at 16mm. It takes advantage of the Z mount system to deliver minimal distortion, beautiful bokeh, and superior point-image reproduction,’ Sajjan Kumar, Managing Director, Nikon India, said in a statement.
The lens employs extra-low dispersion (ED) glass elements for minimum axial chromatic aberration. The lens has a Nano Crystal Coat that suppresses ghost and flare in backlit portrait shooting. The lens also has a control ring to which various functions can be assigned. With its f/1.8 maximum aperture, higher shutter speed and lower ISO sensitivity, the lens can be used to capture stars as point images in astrophotography.
‘This wide-angle prime lens offers movie recording performance with an extensive range of filming capabilities, realised by enhanced usability. Elimination of noise is credited to the click-less control ring along with AF mechanism with stepping motor (STM) and diaphragm mechanism supports shooting movies and stills,’ the company said.
