At the Snadragon Summit in Hawaii, Motorola promised to launch new flagship smartphones in early 2020 that will come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processors supporting 5G capabilities.

Once the undisputed king of flip phones, Motorola is now struggling to cement its position in the Indian smartphone market. The company lags behind the likes of Samsung and OnePlus, even after the huge popularity of the Motorola Droid.

Now, after focusing on affordable phones for the last couple of years, Motorola says it will launch a flagship smartphone in 2020. After Lenovo acquired Motorola, the company didn’t launch a single flagship device in the past two years. However, the Moto Razr 2019 seems like a sign of the fact that Motorola is changing course.

Motorola is planning to launch a premium smartphone in early 2020, which is expected to run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor, meaning the phone will support 5G. And all the upcoming Motorola smartphones will come with the Snapdragon 865 and 765 chipsets.

‘Thanks to the new technologies announced today, we’ll have new premium products to announce in early 2020,’ Motorola’s Sergio Buniac said at the Snapdragon Summit in Hawaii, where Qualcomm announced the new processors.

The company plans to globally launch products with the Snapdragon 765 that offers 5G connectivity. Motorola also said it will create the fastest phone on Qualcomm’s flagship platform, promising 5G speeds over 5Gbps. And don’t for a moment think that these high-end phones will be cheap. Motorola could launch the new line-up at the Mobile World Congress in late February next year.

In November, Motorola launched the Motorola Razr (2019) smartphone that comes with a flexible screen that folds completely in half like a book to give it a traditional Razr look.

The Motorola Razr (2019) will go on sale in the US starting January 9, 2020, and the pre-orders will start from December 26. The smartphone is said to be available in India too, however, the exact timeline is not known yet.
