Motorola India has launched what it claims is the world's slimmest smartphone with MIL-STD 810H certification. The smartphone joins the Ultra, Fusion, and Pro in the company's Edge 50 lineup. Positioned between the Fusion and the Pro, the new Edge 50 is priced at Rs 27,999 for the 8GB + 256GB configuration. However, using a Rs 2,000 instant discount on select bank credit cards, the Motorola Edge 50 can be had at Rs 25,999. Starting August 8, 2024, the phone will go on sale through Flipkart, Motorola India's website, and some offline stores across India.
Measuring 7.79mm in thickness, the Motorola Edge 50 features a metal frame but a vegan leather back. The latter is offered with Jungle Green and Pantone Peach Fuzz colourways, while a Koala Grey colourway comes with a vegan suede finish. The device runs on Android 14-based Motorola’s Hello UI while promising 2 years of OS upgrades and 3 years of security fixes.

The Motorola Edge 50 utilises a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 Accelerated Edition chipset and is paired with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256GB of onboard storage, expandable through RAM boost. A large 5,000mAh battery is tucked inside with 68W fast charging. The battery also supports 15W wireless charging and 5W reverse wireless charging.
The display is a 1.5K Super HD curved pOLED display measuring 6.7 inches. It has a 360Hz touch rate, 120Hz refresh rate and 1,600 nits peak brightness. The device also gets 100% DCI-P3 colour space, HDR10+ support, Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection, and SGS Blue Light Reduction certification. Other bits include Smart Water Touch technology, Dolby Atmos, Hi-Res audio, and an in-display fingerprint sensor.
The Motorola Edge 50 camera system consists of a 50-megapixel primary sensor (with Sony’s Lytia 700C sensor), a 10-megapixel 3x telephoto lens, and a 13-megapixel ultra-wide camera. At the front, the selfie camera is rated at 32 megapixels.
Connectivity options include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, GPS, and USB Type-C port. The phone also comes integrated with Google AI, offering a host of features such as Magic Eraser, Photo Unblur, and Magic Editor.

What's more, the smartphone is IP68-rated for dust and water resistance. It tips the scale at 180 grams.
