Meta has rolled out new features for Facebook Messenger, enhancing the user experience with HD video calls and AI-powered background options. The upgrade brings improved video call quality, offering users clearer and sharper visuals, and making virtual conversations feel more lifelike. In addition, the integration of artificial intelligence allows users to customise their video call backgrounds, adding a creative touch or a sense of privacy. These innovations are aimed at making Messenger a more dynamic and engaging platform for both personal and professional communication. With these updates, Meta aims to provide more tools to enhance the way users interact online. This rollout marks a significant step forward in the evolution of Facebook Messenger’s capabilities.

Meta has unveiled a host of new features for Messenger, including HD video calls for clearer communication. Enabled automatically on Wi-Fi and toggleable for cellular connections, this enhancement improves call quality significantly. The app also introduces voice isolation and noise cancellation to minimise background sounds and enhance voice clarity, both accessible through call settings.
Another key feature is AI-powered video call backgrounds, created using Meta AI. Users can generate custom backgrounds by simply entering text prompts via the Backgrounds option in the effects menu. Following the latest update, FB Messenger now also supports a function similar to voicemails, enabling users to leave audio or video messages if a call is unanswered. This feature is available through the Record message option.

iPhone users will also soon gain hands-free calling via Siri, allowing them to initiate calls and send messages using voice commands. These updates follow the introduction of the Memories feature, which lets users view and share photos from previous conversations.
