New age telecom brand Kult from Delhi-based Optiemus Group debuted its first 4G smartphone 10(Ten) in 2015. Kult 10 (Ten) garnered decent response, however was not loved much by consumers. After being silent for the whole of 2016, Kult recently jumped back to life and launched another affordable smartphone 'Beyond' at Rs 6,999.

Here is what device has to offer.

Palm friendly design

The smartphone features compact metal body which feels sturdy and also fits comfortably in hand thanks to curved edges. The fingerprint sensor located at the back of the device unlocks the Kult Beyond 10 within seconds and can also be used to capture photos, launch favourite apps and answer calls.

Decent performance

Kult Beyond is powered by 1.25GHz processor paired up with 3GB of RAM. And after being used the review unit for almost two weeks, Kult Beyond handled multitasking well, and switched from one app to another and coming back and opening them without any hiccups. However, being an entry level smartphone, Kult Beyond is not meant for heavy-duty usage and even for games. For, average users, Kult Beyond nicely executes daily activities.

The HD display displayed good colours -- be it playing games to watching videos to web surfing. Working with Android 7.0 Nougat operating system was a breeze on the device.

Good Camera

The 13MP auto-focus rear camera clicked pictures with good colours under bright sunlight, but failed to impress us in low light. The colours in night time looked faded and untrue.

The selfies and group selfies form the 13MP front camera were good enough to be instantly shared on the social media. The dual selfie flash adds good amount of light to further brighten up the pictures.

There is also beautification feature which allows you to customise skin tones, lighten dark circles, highlights nose to enhance the pictures. The camera app also packs dozens of professional filters, frames and effects to turn the photos into a piece of art.

A day of battery

The Kult Beyond features 3,000mAh battery and lasted for approximately a day which is pretty much decent given the size and specifications.

Conclusion

For a first time buyer, Kult Beyond will turn out to be a good option considering the features and specs. However, the device will face a fierce competition with Xiaomi Redmi 4 – a most popular smartphone in this segment which has been loved by consumers for design and graceful performance.
