The unveiling of the iPhone 16 series – iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max – will be followed by sales starting on September 20, according to a report from Bloomberg.

A recent report from Bloomberg claims that Apple Inc. plans to hold its fall Apple event on September 10, 2024, when the Cupertino-based tech giant will introduce the iPhone 16 series, alongside the new AirPods and Apple watches. However, Apple has yet to confirm the date of the event. Last year, Apple unveiled its iPhone 15 models (with significant upgrades) on September 12 – the second Tuesday of the month usually preferred by the company. With just a few weeks to go, here's a rundown of what to expect:

Apple iPhone 16 Series

As per the report, Apple will unveil four new models in the series – iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max. This will be followed by sales, scheduled to commence on September 20. The Apple iPhone 16 series is expected to look very similar to the iPhone 15, albeit with some changes.

Features-wise, the standard iPhone 16 models (iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus) will likely get the same Action button as the iPhone 15 Pro and the Pro Max. Aside from this, Apple is expected to offer a new capture button it is reportedly working on. For those not aware, the capture button enables quick video capturing with the help of haptic feedback tech. Other expected bits include an upgraded A-series chip (A18) as well as vertically arranged rear camera lenses seen on the iPhone 12.

As for the iPhone 16 Pro models, the company is expected to bump up the display size of the iPhone 16 Pro from 6.1 to 6.3 inches, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max could get a 6.9-inch display, up by 0.2 inches. The Pro versions are also expected to bring in the Capture button and a faster A-series chip, in addition to the camera tweak, including a tetraprism 5x Telephoto lens and an upgraded 48-megapixel Ultra Wide camera.

Apple Watch Series 10

Like the Pro models, the Apple Watch Series 10 could see an increase in size – from 41mm to 45mm in the case of the smaller device, and from 45mm to 49mm in the case of the larger model. Apple is also expected to include LTPO (low-temperature polycrystalline oxide) tech in the OLED panel for dynamic refresh rate adjustments, and there is a possibility that the new watch might sport a slimmer case. A new S10 chip for enhanced performance and power efficiency is also on the cards.

Apple AirPods 4

The fourth-generation AirPods are expected to come in two configurations – one with Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) and one without ANC. Both versions will feature a new design with shorter stems, and a case with USB-C charging and speakers for Find My alerts will also be available.

Alongside these announcements, the iOS18 – the next-generation version of iOS – is expected to be released to the public on the same day. iOS is built around what Apple calls Apple Intelligence (AI), which combines generative AI with personal context.
