Google is expected to launch the Pixel 8a, the most affordable phone from the Pixel 8 series, at its annual I/O 2024 developer conference on May 14. However, before that, the smartphone's price, which seems to be more than the Pixel 7a, has surfaced online.
According to the recent leak by PassionateGeekz, a Canadian retailer has listed the price of the handset ahead of its launch, which is CAD 792.99 (about Rs 47,900) for the 256GB variant and CAD 708.99 (around Rs 42,830) for the 128GB model. If the reports are accurate, the entry-level version of the Google smartphone could cost between Rs 40,000 and Rs 45,000 in India, which is about Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000 more than the Google Pixel 7a (Rs 43,999).
Let's look at some of the expected features of the soon-to-be-released model from the Google Pixel 8 Series.
The new Pixel 8a will likely have the same design language as the flagship Pixel 8, except for some minor modifications, such as a smaller and slim profile measuring 152.1 x 72.6 x 8.9mm. The upcoming Google Pixel 8a is speculated to offer a 120Hz display refresh rate, compared to the Pixel 7a's 90Hz. It will most likely have a 6.1-inch OLED display. The budget-friendly Google handset may come with multiple colour options, including Obsidian (black), Porcelain (beige), Bay (light blue), and Mint (pale green).
Moreover, the Google Pixel 8a is expected to feature the same Tensor G3 processor found in the other Pixel 8 smartphones. The processor is equipped with greater AI capabilities. The smartphone may include a 4,500mAh battery with 27W fast charging capabilities.
For photography, the new Google handset will likely sport a 13MP ultrawide rear sensor, a 64MP OIS-enabled primary camera, and a 13MP front sensor. It may feature some AI-powered capabilities along with Bluetooth, 4G LTE, and 5G compatibility. More details about the Google smartphone are expected to emerge as we move closer to its launch.
