Asus will launch its next flagship gaming phone, the ROG Phone 2 in India today. The phone, which has already been launched in some international markets, has arguably the best specs on paper. The ROG Phone 2 is the successor of the ROG Phone, and it is expected to come with special accessories that were showcased on its debut in July in China. The Asus ROG Phone 2 was launched at a starting price of CNY 3,499 (approx Rs 35,000) for the base 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant. The one with the 12GB RAM + 128GB storage ius priced at CNY 5,999 (approx Rs 60,000). In Europe, the variant with 12GB RAM + 512GB storage was launched for EUR 899 (Rs 71,400). There is an Ultimate Edition in Europe that comes with 12GB RAM + 1TB storage for a price tag of EUR 1,199 (approx Rs 95,000). While there is no clarity on the variant of the phone but the starting price of the device is expected to be around Rs 40,000.
The gaming smartphone gets a Full HD 6.65-inch AMOLED panel with an in-display fingerprint sensor. The display has 120Hz refresh rate, which was previously available only in Razr Phones. Under the hood, the phone gets the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus mobile platform, which is an overclocked version of the regular Snapdragon 855 processor. Qualcomm claims that the Plus variant of the chipset 15 per cent better performance in graphics and 4 per cent improvement in CPU power. The chipset is accompanied by up to 12GB RAM and up to 1TB UFS 3.0 storage, which means the apps will load faster. Being a gaming device, it is evident that it will feature a 3D cooling chamber with a vent to throw out heat during intense loads or gaming sessions. When it comes to cameras, Asus has included the same dual camera system as we have seen in Asus 6z. The phone ships with a 48MP main camera and a 13MP wide-angle lens. The ROG Phone 2 houses a 6000mAh battery with fast charging support.
