Asus has begun 2021 by launching not one but three gaming smartphones at the same time. The company has chosen to globally launch the ROG Phone 5, ROG Phone 5 Pro, and ROG Phone 5 Ultimate after having introduced the ROG Phone 3 last year.
Like its predecessors, the ROG Phone 5, too, is all about specifications. All the phones pack a 6.78-inch Full-HD+ AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and a 300Hz sampling rate. It also gets sizeable bezels on both ends, housing dual front-firing stereo speakers and a 24MP selfie shooter at the top.
Powering the ROG Phone 5 Series is a Snapdragon 888 chipset, coupled with varying RAM and storage options. All the smartphones feature a 6,000mAh battery with 65W HyperCharge technology via USB-C. However, Asus bundles a relatively slower 30W HyperCharger in the box.
Moreover, the phones run on Android 11 out-of-the-box with a near-stock Zen UI or a gaming-inspired ROG UI skin on top, depending on the user's choice. Further, all the phones get the same triple camera setup at the back, comprising a 64MP Sony IMX686 sensor, a 13MP ultrawide lens, and a 5MP macro camera. They also come with a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The Pro and Ultimate variants of the ROG Phone 5 get an extra POLED display at the rear, which is customisable. They also get L2/R2 trigger functions at the back, courtesy of two additional sensors. The Ultimate version packs more RAM and comes across as a limited edition variant, available in a single storm white matte finish.

The Asus ROG Phone 5 Series will go on sale starting April 15 exclusively on Flipkart. The vanilla ROG Phone 5 will be available in two colours – phantom black and storm white (both glossy) – while the Pro and Ultimate versions will be available in a single colour, with the former being available in a glossy phantom black shade and the latter being available in, as mentioned above, a storm white matte finish.
