Putting an end to leaks and rumours, Apple has officially introduced its first set of over-ear headphones dubbed the AirPods Max. This is perhaps the final product from the Cupertino-based tech giant for this year.
According to Apple, the AirPods Max feature an 'iconic design', and they do actually stand out. The headphones come with a stainless steel headband with a breathable knit mesh canopy to minimize the on-head pressure from the headphones and offer comfort to a variety of head shapes and sizes.
The earcups, on the other hand, are huge and feature memory foam ear cushions on the inside. There's also a Digital Crown similar to what we've seen on the Apple Watch, which offers precise volume control and gives the ability to play or pause audio, skip tracks, answer or end phone calls, and activate Siri.
Along with that, there's also a dedicated button to toggle between ANC (active noise cancellation) and Transparency mode. Inside each earcup, the AirPods Max feature 40mm drivers, which, according to Apple, offers 'rich, deep bass, accurate mid-range, and crisp, clean high-frequency extension so every note can be heard.' Apart from ANC, the headphones also feature Adaptive EQ and spatial audio.
The AirPods Max also features three outward-facing microphones and one microphone inside the ear cup to deliver the best noise cancellation experience. Furthermore, each earcup is also equipped with Apple's H1 chip, which is a 10-core chip capable of 9 billion operations per second in order to provide a computational audio breakthrough. Apple says that the AirPods Max can last up to 20 hours on a single charge, with either spatial audio or ANC enabled. The headphones charge via Apple's proprietary Lightning port.
Lastly, Apple has priced the AirPods Max at ₹59,900 and these are available for order starting today via Apple's online store and its authorized resellers. The headphones will begin shipping on December 15. You can grab the AirPods Max in five colours – space grey, silver, sky blue, green, and pink.
