Cupertino-based Apple Inc. has launched the new iPad Mini with the 'powerful A17 Pro chip, faster connectivity, and support for Apple Pencil Pro'. The iPad Mini even supports 'Apple Intelligence' (Apple speak for AI), a new suite of AI features integrated into iPadOS 18. Apple Intelligence uses Apple Silicon and Apple-built generative models to give users access to features such as Writing Tools, Image Creation, and new and improved Siri. Priced from Rs 49,900 for the Wi-Fi model, the new Apple iPad Mini comes in three storage configurations (128GB, 256GB, and 512GB) and four finishes (Blue, Purple, Starlight, and Space Grey). The Wi-Fi + Cellular version sets you back by Rs 64,900. The device is already available for pre-orders through Apple's website and Apple Store app, with sales commencing on October 2023 across Apple India's online and offline stores, as well as authorised retailers.

For education, the new iPad Mini starts at Rs 44,900. The special pricing is exclusively reserved for current and newly accepted college students and their parents, as well as faculty, staff, and home-school teachers of all grade levels. Compatible with the iPad Mini, the Apple Pencil Pro unlocks features like pressure sensitivity, tilt support, and a customisable tool palette, and is priced at Rs 11,900. The standard Apple Pencil (USB-C) is available for Rs 7,900.
Underneath the skin, the Apple iPad Mini gets an A17 Pro chip. With a 6-core CPU – two performance cores and four efficiency cores – the A17 Pro delivers a 30 per cent increase in CPU performance compared to the A15 Bionic. The A17 Pro also allows for a 25 per cent boost in graphics performance with a 5-core GPU. The chip offers support for ray tracing, Dynamic Caching and hardware-accelerated mesh shading.
On the back, the iPad Mini features a 12-megapixel wide camera with support for Smart HDR 4, offering 'natural-looking photos with increased dynamic range'. It uses machine learning to detect and scan documents in the Camera app. The front end houses a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera that supports Center Stage.
The Apple iPad Mini has an 8.3-inch Liquid Retina display with True Tone technology and support for P3 wide colour. It is said to get 'all-day battery life' with USB-C charging. Other highlights include Wi-Fi 6E support, 5G connectivity, and eSIM support.
