When OnePlus confirmed the launch date of the OnePlus TV and OnePlus 7T, it also said that the company would launch the OnePlus 7T Series in London on October 10. In a development related to the same announcement, company CEO Pete Lau has now confirmed that OnePlus and British motor racing giant McLaren have entered the second phase of their partnership to launch yet another OnePlus McLaren Edition smartphone. While the name of the device has not been confirmed, the rumour mill suggests that the handset could be called the 'OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition'.
‘We’ve long been inspired by the McLaren brand spirit as an established company that continues to innovate. The public reaction to the OnePlus 6T McLaren edition was incredible, users enjoyed seeing us working together to push boundaries, and we are thrilled to continue working together,’ said Pete Lau, Founder and CEO of OnePlus. This will be the second time that the companies have come together. Previously, both of them partnered to launch the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition phone.

Lau tweeted an image of the retail box showing carbon fibre texture and orange stripe. This could be a hint that the design of the phone may have a carbon fibre back panel and orange accents similar to the ones we saw in last year’s OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition device. Further, the McLaren Edition had a few synthetic upgrades like more RAM and a faster-charging technology. The OnePlus 7T has already got an update in this space, and we’ll have to wait and see what charging will the company bring in the McLaren Edition.
Further, last year’s OnePlus 6T McLaren edition was one of the fastest smartphones in the industry, and if the AnTuTu numbers of the recently-launched OnePlus 7T are to be believed (400912), we can expect the McLaren Edition to pack some serious firepower to make it stand out from the competition.
